Phone Link on Windows Is Getting New Features

Microsoft’s newly rebranded Phone Link app on Windows could be getting some useful new tweaks soon. Noted by Aggiornamenti Lumia, and Neowin, some features like the ability to search and categorize, messages could be in the works for release.

Microsoft has yet to confirm any of these features, and we’re assuming they’d be coming to Windows Insiders first. Anyway, based on the leaked screenshot, it looks like Microsoft could be adding a search bar to the messages area in Phone Link, right above your list of messages. You’ll also be able to categorize messages, into received recently, and hidden.

Other than that, a third change tweaks in-app notifications. The Phone Link notifications tiles in this leaked screenshot seem to represent those of Windows 11, with a little bit more spacing in between. Also, new there is the ability to “clear all”. In the current app, this area has a submenu for this task.

It’s really great to see that Microsoft is tweaking Phone Link like this, as these are some really needed quality of life fixes. We hope they’ll roll out to Insiders for testing soon.
