Panasonic updates its 20-inch 4K tablet while halving its starting price

\

Back in 2013, Panasonic unveiled the world’s first 20-inch “tablet” with a 4K display. The ToughPad 4K was designed for the businesses where professionals demanded crisp visual clarity. Panasonic delivered, and charged $6,000 a piece for that advantage.

\

Now, as 4K bleeds into the mainstream, Panasonic is not only updating the ToughPad 4K with the latest 5th generation “Broadwell” Intel Core i5 processors, but it’s also cutting the price of the device down to $2,999. The specs provided by Panasonic include the aforementioned vPro-variant Intel processor, a 20-inch 4K 230 PPI IPS LCD display, USB 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Ethernet, Mini DisplayPort, and Bluetooth 4.0. No official confirmation on the RAM, storage, or graphics, but the older ToughPad 4K allowed for up to 16GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a NVIDIA Quadro K1000M GPU with 2GB of VRAM, so that should give you an idea of what the new model will have to improve on in that regard.

The ToughPad 4K will be available this July, and should prove popular to those interested in a device of its feature-set. The price alone is a huge factor and should open the Windows 8.1-powered device up to a larger audience.
