Online store implements world’s first Internet Explorer 7 tax, developers rejoice

The online store, Kogan.com, have implemented the world’s first Internet Explorer 7 tax on their website and developers are rejoicing around the world. In a nutshell, those who access Kogan.com using IE7 will be charged an additional 6.8% Internet Explorer 7 tax on all products purchased on the website.

Rusland Kogan, owner of the store, doesn’t really expect anyone to pay for the tax but instead discourage the use of Internet Explorer 7. Kogan is tired of having his developers spend time to fix the website so it works on an out-of-date browser. “It’s not only costing us a huge amount, it’s affecting any business with an online presence, and costing the Internet economy millions,” Kogan stated. If using Internet Explorer 7, a message will pop up on the site and it will say, “It appears you or your system administrator have been in a coma for 5 years and you are still using IE7,” it reads. “To help make the web a better place, you will be charged 6.8% tax on your purchase from Kogan.com.” How do you fix this problem? Kogan suggests you upgrade your browser. “This will help us increase our efficiency, help keep prices for all smart shoppers down, and hopefully help eradicate … the pain in the rear that is IE7.”
