Smartwatches, in fact wearable technology, has become the “in thing” these days, with Google Glass leading the charge, along with Pebble. Others have followed suit — most notably Android Wear and now even Apple, though the latter is late to the game.

With several Android watches now on the market, we expect developers to run wild. Microsoft is no stranger to making apps for Google’s platform, and it’s doing so again, this time putting OneNote right on your wrist.

Those who use the mobile platform are likely, at this point, familiar with the phrase “OK Google”. It springs your handset to life and readies it to answer your query. Well, that same functionality is arriving on your arm now — “OK Google, take a note” is heading to your watch.

“One of our primary goals is to help you capture ideas and information in new and innovative ways. Features like Quick Notes, Cortana, and Office Lens have made it easy to preserve those flashes of brilliance and today we’re adding Android Wear watches. Simply install the free OneNote for Android Wear app from the Play Store and start dictating notes to your heart’s desire”, the company announces.

There is the slight problem, at least for some, that you’ll need an Android phone. But given it’s market dominance, that’s likely not a hindrance for many out there. Microsoft also requests feedback on this release — something it has recently been listening to.
