The wait is over for those who use Office for Mac 2011. Microsoft announced the release of Office for Mac 2011 Service Pack 1 and brings us several improvements that add better functionality and improved security and performance.

“This update fixes critical issues and also helps to improve security. It includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.”

Of the new improvements, Outlook has several notable new features including an increased support for Sync Services and adds calendar, notes, and tasks syncing. The update also introduces support for Microsoft Exchange-based Server-Side rules. The ability to resend an email message to the same or new recipients is reintroduced. The ability to redirect an incoming email message to other recipients is also reintroduced. Creating meeting invitations by including a list of recently used locations is also improved in this update.

Office for Mac 2011 Service Pack 1 is 246.2MB and requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later. Download here
