New Xbox One 1TB console revealed with new controller, price dropped on 500GB console

Microsoft decided before heading to E3 next week to reveal a new Xbox One 1TB console, new Xbox One Wireless Controller with 3.5mm audio jack, Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, and a drop in price for the existing 500GB Xbox One to $349.

The new 1TB console doubles the onboard storage over the previous edition and comes with a few new features like an external USB 3.0 drive and a matte finish. The console will quickly be made available and start shipping to retailers on June 16th with a price of $399.

The new console will also ship with and updated Xbox One Wireless Controller which now features a standard 3.5mm stereo headset jack right on the controller, removing the need to purchase the separate Stereo Headset Adapter for the ability to plug you favorite gaming headset into your Xbox One controller.

Without the Stereo Headset Adapter, volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance are now adjusted in the Xbox’s settings menu. Additionally, the new Xbox One controller will be able to receive wireless firmware updates, removing the need to connect the controller to the Xbox One with a USB cable to deliver updates.

The new controller is also being made available with a new black and silver camouflage design as the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller.

Today’s announcement also included the unveiling of the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. Priced at $24.99, the new adapter gives gamers the ability to use their Xbox One controller on a Windows 10 PC. The adapter had previously been mentioned at the Game Developers Conference in March, and now with the new controller and the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, available this fall, gamers will be able to use the same controller across multiple devices for a consistent gaming experience.
