Last week, we reported that Microsoft Edge is getting a new Outlook extension that will let users quickly access their inbox without switching tabs or apps. The Outlook extension is now available to download on the Microsoft Edge add-ons website, though it is currently in preview (via Neowin).

The Outlook browser extension enables users to read, send, and manage emails and receive new email notifications without opening a new tab. Once downloaded, the browser adds an Outlook icon on the address bar. Users will need to sign in with their work or personal account to see their emails, calendar, contacts, and tasks, and more in a pop-up menu while browsing the web.

Other features include the ability to join online meetings, create new events, as well as view upcoming events. The extension currently supports 50 different languages, including French, Arabic, and Korean and it helps to perform the following functions:

  • Reading an important email
  • Checking your calendar
  • Adding a task based on what you’re reading on the web
  • Fast look up of a contact’s phone number
  • Referring to info on a webpage while writing an email

It is important to note that the new Outlook add-on is still a work in progress and the Microsoft 365 roadmap indicates that it will drop its preview tag in July this year. At this point, it’s only available on the Edge Add-ons store, and there is no word on when it will become available for Chrome users.
