Mystery midrange Windows Phone is spotted on AdDuplex, could be an 830 variant

Microsoft has made a point of delivering a wide range of low and midrange devices running Windows Phone. Now AdDuplex has spotted a new midrange Lumia phone on the horizon which looks very similar to the Lumia 830. This new device could be a slightly cheaper 830 for a new market, or the first midrange Windows 10 device. Either way this phone, which is currently showing up as RM-1072, looks to further fill in the gaps for Microsoft to ensure there is a Windows Phone for every price point.

Releasing new phone operating system is tough with carrier’s controlling the rollout of updates. The main way updates propagate to users occurs when a new phone is purchased. It is highly likely that this RM-1072 is the first of Windows 10 for phones device. Microsoft wants their new OS to be available to their customers as soon as possible, and that may mean releasing a new phone with the new OS on by default. RM-1072’s specs are as follows:

  • 5-inch, 720p display
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Dual-Sim
  • Quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor
  • 8.7 MP rear camera ( May be PureView unit from Lumia 920 / Lumia 925)
  • 0.9 MP FFC
  • 8 GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card support

These specs build a decent budget phone which is rumored to cost around $275 when it is announced. This device may be aimed at consumers, or maybe it is a developer phone aimed at developers to test Windows 10 apps on phones. Microsoft will reveal more by this spring with MWC, Build, and Ignite all coming up.
