We know that Microsoft will have a couple of new Lumia devices to show off at Mobile World Congress 2015. While we aren’t expecting any flagship devices, there should be some exciting new mid-range devices unveiled, and we’re starting to see the first signs of them.
Following the publication of the recent AdDuplex report for February 2015 on the state of the Windows Phone platform, we saw some unidentified Lumia devices being picked up by the ad network, one of which was the Nokia RM-1031. This device has a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 480×800 and shares the same model number as the now discontinued Nokia XL. Now, an incomplete page on the official Microsoft News Center site has appeared with the title “Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL: keeping you prepared for anything”, put the dots together and what you are likely to get is a Nokia X (more likely the X2) and XL running Windows Phone.
Still, without any official confirmation of the model number of the Lumia 640, any pictures of the device, or any detailed specifications, we are yet to determine whether or not the devices are indeed recycled Nokia X and XL’s, but we’ll know for sure soon enough as Microsoft takes the stage at Mobile World Congress on March 2nd.
