MSN’s ‘Top Smartphones For 2013’ List Forgets To Mention Windows Phone – onmsft.com

MSN's 'Top Smartphones for 2013' list forgets to mention Windows Phone

Come on MSN, what’s up with this? If you head over to MSN’s SCI/TECH section, you will see a ‘Year in tech and innovation’ bit that lists the top smartphones for the 2013 year. Google’s Android and Apple’s iPhone made the list, but what about Microsoft’s very own Windows Phone platform?

“Whether you’re an Apple diehard or an Android devotee, there was a shiny new smartphone released in 2013 for you. Apple released two versions of the iPhone 5 – the budget 5C, and the 5S, which included a faster processor and fingerprint scanner. Samsung’s updated Galaxy, the S4, was lauded for its sharp screen, while the HTC One was fawned over for its aluminum casing and beveled edges. Finally, Google’s Nexus 5 was praised for delivering an unadulterated Android experience at an affordable price,” MSN mentioned on their website.

While the Surface and Xbox One received nods in subsequent categories, Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform received no mention in the smartphone category. Instead, MSN lists the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Nexus 5 as the top smartphones for 2013. That’s all? We disagree.

This list is missing two key Windows Phone devices that have bolstered the platform big time. For example, the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Nokia Lumia 1520.

The Lumia 1020 comes packed with a 41MP camera, even making appearances in many official Microsoft advertisements showing how much better it is against the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone. The Lumia 1520, on the other hand, features a 6-inch 1080p screen, the first for the platform. At the very least, one of these phones should have been mentioned in MSN’s top smartphone list. We’re hoping they just forgot to mention Windows Phone.

Do you agree? Sound off in the comments below.

Thanks for the tips, Anon and James!
