Last month, Microsoft announced that it had started rolling out the Windows 10 May 2020 Update in stages across the world to more PCs. The Redmond giant has been using a machine learning-based approach to automatically determine which devices should receive the latest feature update.
Well, Microsoft has quietly updated the Windows 10 health dashboard earlier this week to indicate that the May 2020 Update has now entered the next phase of the rollout (via ZDNet). The company highlighted that its well-trained ML algorithm is helping them to automatically update “older devices” that are approaching the end of service deadline soon.
“We are now starting a new phase in our rollout. Using the machine learning-based (ML-based) training we have done so far, we are increasing the number of devices selected to update automatically to Windows 10, version 2004 that are approaching end of service. We will continue to train our machine learning through all phases to intelligently rollout new versions of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel,” the company explained.
The May 2020 Update started rolling out in the last week of May, but a lot of Windows 10 users have yet to receive it. According to AdDuplex’s latest survey, only 7% of users were running the latest feature update last month, with the majority of users still running the May 2019 Update.
