Microsoft’s Xbox streaming device and TV app set to be released soon – onmsft.com

Last year, Microsoft confirmed that there was an Xbox streaming device as well as a TV app in the works. However, they did not give further information as to when they would get to general availability. This comes years after Microsoft tried to launch a streaming stick in 2016 dubbed Project Hobart, but later canceled it.

With that said, it seems that we will still have to hold on a little bit longer. But as spotted by Tom Warren on Twitter, both the streaming device and TV app could be finally available soon. Jeff Grubb from VentureBeat reiterated the same sentiments shared by Tom and has indicated that we will still have to be patient.

Xbox Everywhere includes devices like a TV puck for Xbox Cloud Gaming, apps for TVs, and even Microsoft’s original plan to let you play all Xbox games you own through the cloud

Remember, the initial arrangement was to have them both released but it has already been 11 months since the announcement was made. There’s no clear indication as to why they have pushed the release to a later date and what stopped them from making the launch as earlier indicated. Both Jeff and Tom’s positive remarks on the Xbox Everywhere initiative could be an indication that the release is well on its way this time around.
