Microsoft’s Windows RT based tablet devices drop in price, except for the Surface RT

It looks like prices for various Windows RT tablet devices have dropped, giving those who have been eagerly waiting for the price to ease a little bit before making the jump to Microsoft’s Windows RT platform. Unfortunately, Microsoft has not dropped the price of the Surface RT.

For example, the Dell XPS 10 is now $449 for the 32GB model and $499 for the 64GB model, with a $50 and $100 drop in price respectively. The Asus VivoTab RT 32GB is now available on Amazon for $382, discounted from it’s launch price of $599. Best Buy, Staples, and Office Depot are offering a discounted price of $549.

Lenovo has dropped the price on its IdeaPad Yoga 11 giving a $200 discount, dropping the price to $599. TigerDirect still has it for $599 while Amazon has it for $499. One device that has not changed in price is Microsoft’s very own Surface RT, the main player in the Windows RT game.

The Surface RT currently remains on its starting price of $499. According to reports, these price drops indicate that Windows RT is done. “The price drop is an acknowledgement that Windows RT has failed,” the report stated. While this is an argument for another time (we’ll be talking more about this soon), enjoy the price cuts!
