Microsoft launched an 18-hour coding marathon on September 21st in Bangalore India in an event called Windows AppFest to build apps for Windows. In just 18 hours, a world record was set for the “Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon in One Location.”

The world record for the “Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon in One Location” was set by the 2,567 Windows app developers who were coding non-stop for 18 hours at the AppFest. “This event represents an opportunity for developers to come together to learn how to build great apps and network with Microsoft programmers and design specialists. Developers will get help and guidance on preparing their apps for certification and ultimately submission into the Windows Store,” Microsoft described the vent. This new entry into the Guinness book of World Records for the world’s largest coding marathon has Microsoft ecstatic, and we should be too, as this represents more focus on building great apps for Windows 8. Take a look at the video below for highlights from the event.
