Microsoft: Windows devices are superior to Android in education and government

Windows device

Microsoft has released a whitepaper that compared Android and Windows devices for use in the educational and government sector. Microsoft unsurprisingly found Windows devices to be the “superior choice” in terms of security, productivity, and manageability.

“Android-based tablets have a lot of obvious appeal considering low acquisition costs against tight public budgets. However, when judged against 4 areas critical to public sector and education – Ease of Use, Security, Productivity and Lifecycle – Android-based solutions fall short,” the whitepaper states.

According to Microsoft, this in-depth comparison between Android and Windows found that Windows is the superior choice, offering better security, a more productive experience for users, and an improved ability for organizations to manage mobile devices within the infrastructure. Microsoft goes as far as saying that Android is incredibly fragmented.

“Reading the 6 page paper will uncover them in detail, yet two stood out.. way out… the incredible fragmentation of the Android ecosystem and the significant difficulties to update and secure devices makes Android devices a risky proposition to consider,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
