The iOS and Android versions of Microsoft’s To Do app each received updates today with some rather appreciated refinements to the UI that should improve the experience for users on both.
The iOS update added support for app icon badge notifications and finally enabled the ability to immediately place new tasks at the top of a list.

You asked, and we listened. This update brings a whole heap of new features that you’ve been requesting.
- Introducing app badge support. You now have three options for app badge notifications—Added to My Day and not completed, due and overdue, and turned off for those who don’t like to see those little red numbers.
- You can now add new tasks to the top.
- Starred tasks can now move to the top too.
- Set your preference for all of these in your app settings.
The Android update brings improvements to the syncing of data between devices, some subtle improvements to the UI, and a better email preview experience.

We’re constantly working on our sync, and we’ve made a lot of improvements in this update.
- We made some UI adjustments to our list view, task view and various sections.
- We fixed an accessibility issue where the rich entry buttons weren’t visible in landscape mode.
- We’ll now display the links and make them clickable in your email preview for your flagged email tasks.
- We fixed an issue where your app could become unresponsive.
Microsoft To Do is a free task management service that can sync data between its numerous apps across iOS, Android, Windows 10, and the web. The iOS and Android apps also updated earlier this month with support for more languages and a new Today feature. You can read about those changes here.
