Microsoft Accelerator for Windows Azure, which takes place in India, is a four month program that is designed to help tech start-ups make it big when it comes to the Cloud, Internet, and Mobile. Microsoft provides a state-of-the-art work space, elite mentors from the industry, and necessary tools for these start-ups.
In a press release, Microsoft Accelerator for Windows Azure has announced the selection of thirteen new tech startups that will be participating in the program, beginning March 1, 2013. These tech startups include 360 Living, Adepto, DeckApp, Frintit, Harness, I7 Networks, Label Guild, Profoundis, Qubole, SupportBee, TableGrabber, Tuebora and Visarity. Microosft selected these applicants from a pool of 350 tech startups who had applied. The final 13 were picked by a panel of judges comprising of senior leaders from the tech industry and Microsoft. “We have a very diverse range of companies in this batch – social app platform providers, a digital hub for health and wellness, data services, identity and access governance services and a real time online restaurant reservation portal – each catering to a unique audience, but connected by a common theme – all the companies use the power of Cloud to deliver their services/ products,” Microsoft stated in an emailed statement to us. These tech startups will experience four months of the rigorous program. Microosft graduated the first round of participants (11 tech startups) back in early January of this year.
For those that dont know about this program, it is an intense four month training period. “We provided them access to our community of 100+ mentors, from within and outside India, across varied industries, who are fully committed to ensure the success of the startups. We provided them access to our vast network of early adopters so that they could define their product/market fit before a formal launch to market. And we ensured that the last four months was an intense boot camp, where we tracked the weekly progress of each startup and provided reports to their mentors. The rigor has inculcated a deep sense of discipline among the teams. All of them are now ready to venture out on their own. We are hopeful some will soon emerge as lighthouse companies from India,” Microsoft Accelerator for Windows Azure CEO-in-residence Mukund Mohan added in an email statement to us.
