Last year, Microsoft announced some big updates for its Teams collaboration platform, including Chat Bubbles, Live reactions, and more. Alongside these features, the Redmond giant also unveiled a new Video filters option that is coming to Teams meetings.

The Video filters experience is one of the highly anticipated features, and Microsoft Teams users have been waiting for this capability for a while now. However, it looks like the company is all set to launch this feature next month. The Microsoft 365 roadmap listing for the feature suggests that the Video filters support will finally begin rolling out to the Teams desktop client in August 2021 (via MSPoweruser).

This feature will improve the existing meeting experience by allowing participants to hide or brighten up their background. This means that users will be able to adjust the lighting levels or soften the camera’s focus before jumping into a call or meeting. “Before joining a meeting, you can use filters to subtly adjust lighting levels and smooth out facial features to customize your appearance,” the company explained on the roadmap.

The Video filters support is already available in Zoom, and the addition of this feature in Teams will make it easier for users to personalize their appearance without downloading third-party plug-ins. Let us know in the comments below if you think that the feature will help to make meetings more inclusive and engaging.
