A 10.1-inch Windows tablet just appeared, and it has an ARM-based Snapdragon 805 CPU in it

Just as the fate of Windows RT gets gloomier by the day, a new ARM-based Windows tablet appears and keeps the fire alive. The device showed up on a GFXBench listing and appears to be running an unknown version of Windows. It sports a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, a DirectX 11-capable Adreno 420 GPU, 64GB of storage, and a 10.1” 2K display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. This is clearly a high-end tablet that could be the successor of the Lumia 2520.

We don’t know if the device is simply one used for internal testing or one that is on its way to consumers, but it certainly is interesting to see that such a device exists. Microsoft announced that it will not be upgrading current devices running Windows RT (or Windows RT 8.1) to Windows 10, so if a Windows RT 10 does not exist, the only OS left that could run on this new device is Windows 10 for phones and small tablets, but that OS doesn’t feature a desktop and is designed for devices smaller than 8” only. It’s either that or a Windows 10 variant that Microsoft has yet to announce.

Let us know what your thoughts are on this new device in the comments below. And as usual, we will update you with more information on this mystery device as the details become available.
