Microsoft said to launch Surface 3 and Surface Mini before this holiday season

In May at its Surface event, Microsoft launched the Surface Pro 3, the successor to the company’s Surface Pro 2 from the previous year. However, the company didn’t unveil the long-rumored Surface Mini to the public. But we knew the device existed. In fact, a reporter from Neowin claimed that he got to play with the device. Now it seems the company has changed its mind, and is planning on releasing it before the holiday season.

According to TK Tech News, which is citing multiple sources, Microsoft is planning to launch two Surface tablets, the Surface Mini and Surface 3, later this year. However, those of you who want the smaller tablet will have to be quick to purchase it as the Surface Mini is expected to stock in “limited” quantities.

The Surface 3 is likely to be a stripped version of the Surface Pro 3. Compared to the Surface device it will replace, the tablet will feature a new multi-stage kickstand and support for Surface Pen that Microsoft launched with Surface Pro 3. At this point, we advise you to take this information with a grain of salt. More on this as it develops.
