Microsoft rolls out CTP 2 of Visual Studio 14 for testing and feedback purposes

Microsoft has rolled out the second Community Technology Preview (CTP) of the next version of Visual Studio, codename Visual Studio 14. Microsoft has made this available for testing and feedback purposes.

“Visual Studio 14 CTPs are previews for the next major release of Visual Studio. These Visual Studio CTPs are intended to promote continuous feedback between early adopters and the Visual Studio development team. We would love to receive your input on the new product functionality and the improved experiences. Your feedback will help shape the future of Visual Studio, and together we will improve the developer experience,” Microsoft stated.

\

Some of the new features in CTP2 include the ability to save and apply custom layouts for tool windows in the IDE, the addition of Light Bulbs as an extensible editor adornment to identify and help you fix issues in your code, and Visual Studio Editor support for touch gestures like scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, tap-and-hold for context menus, double-tap for word selection, and line selection by tapping in the margin.

\

The first CTP of Visual Studio 14 was rolled out on June 3rd and Microsoft is expected to release Visual Studio 14 sometime in 2015. The first CTP brought forth many of the changes and improvements that were mentioned at Build earlier in the year, including the “Roslyn” .NET compiler platform.
