Microsoft Remote Desktop app for Windows Phone adds Azure RemoteApp support

Microsoft has rolled out an updated Remote Desktop app for Windows Phone, adding support for Azure RemoteApp, and various other improvements. The Remote Desktop app allows you to connect to a remote PC and experience the power of Windows with RemoteFX in a Remote Desktop client that helps you get work done no matter where you are.

The latest update to the app, version 8.1.6 for the Microsoft Remote Desktop Preview app for Windows Phone 8.1, adds support for Azure RemoteApp, a new Azure service available from Microsoft allowing IT admins to easily make their Win32 applications available to users on all their devices. Microsoft is still hard at work to bring support for Remote resources (RemoteApp and Desktop Connections) and Remote Desktop Gateway to the app. These new features will be a part of a future update.

When you launch the app and head into the Connection Center, you can now connect to either a Desktop or an Azure RemoteApp. Take a look at the image below and head over to the VIA link for an in-depth explanation of the new feature. Adding support for Azure RemoteApp is the first enterprise-focused feature added to the Remote Desktop app and Microsoft has more enterprise-focused features in store.

You can grab the updated app via the download link below.
