Microsoft releases update to SkyDrive, adds short urls and 300MB uploads

Microsoft has released a new update to SkyDrive that brings several new features to the popular service. SkyDrive now supports the Open Document Format as well as 300MB uploads from the browser to SkyDrive. This new update also brings short urls to the service.

SkyDrive will also have short urls such as “sdrv.ms” for Windows Phone images shared to Twitter. The company promises that bigger things are coming soon. As we read recently, Google is expected to launch its Google Drive service next week, which will become a viable competitor to Dropbox and SkyDrive. What could Microsoft have up their sleeves?
