Microsoft releases security update for Internet Explorer 9, build number jumps to 9.0.8

Microsoft has made available a new security update for IE9 that bumps the build number to 9.0.8. The July 2012 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer features a fix for two privately reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer that could allow for remote code execution.

The vulnerability could allow for remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer 9. The attacker could then gain the same rights as the victim. This update is rated “critical” for those running IE9 on Windows, and rated “moderate” for those running IE9 on Windows Server. If you have automatic updating enabled, the update is probably already installed but in case you dont, check out Windows Update for this patch.
