Microsoft released yesterday another batch of optional updates to address connectivity issues on Windows 10 versions 1709 or newer. Compared to previous optional updates released earlier this month, these latest patches will only be available to download manually via the Microsoft Update Catalog, and not through the Windows Update channel.

📣 An optional update is available to address internet connectivity issues on devices with manual or auto-configured proxies including VPNs. You will only need this update if you are affected by this issue. See more details on this update here: https://t.co/YMzVVyRtNo.

“An out-of-band optional update is now available on the Microsoft Update Catalog to address a known issue whereby devices using a proxy, especially those using a virtual private network (VPN), might show limited or no internet connection status. We recommend you only install this optional update if you are affected by this issue,” the company explained yesterday.

You can find below the links to the Microsoft Update Catalog for every patch released yesterday:
  • Windows 10, version 1909 (KB4554364)
  • Windows 10, version 1903 (KB4554364)
  • Windows 10, version 1809 (KB4554354)
  • Windows 10, version 1803 (KB4554349)
  • Windows 10, version 1709 (KB4554342)

As usual, these connectivity fixes will still be included in next month’s Patch Tuesday update, so we invite you to follow Microsoft’s advice and only install these out-of-band optional patches if you’re encountering issues when using a proxy or VPN.
