Is Microsoft planning on launching its own tablet to compete against the Apple iPad?

According to recent reports, Microsoft is planning to unveil a tablet next week that will pretty much rival the Apple iPad. The tablet will be branded by Microsoft and is expected, according to reports, to be announced June 18th.

Apparently, reports surfaced recently suggesting that Microsoft had big plans and a big announcement on June 18th in Los Angeles. Now, another report is indicating that Microsoft is planning on announcing its very own tablet, to go head to head with the Apple iPad. Microsoft not only wants to have its own tablet, but also be involved in the hardware design too. Could this new tablet run the upcoming Windows RT operating system? Looks like we will have to wait until the 18th at 3:30 PM PST to find out.
