Yammer

Yammer, the “enterprise social network” service that launched in 2008 and was acquired by Microsoft in 2012, has been steadily integrating into its services.  Earlier this year, Yammer was more closely tied in with with Office 365, and last month was integrated with Office Online.

The latest efforts at upgrading Yammer, announced in an Office Blogs post today, are aimed at making Yammer more useable for groups within company wide networks.  Up until now, Yammer’s home page has aggregated information across the network, but it was difficult to focus that information on certain groups within the organization.  Now, with a new “Discovery feed”, real time group activity, an immersive group experience, and Next Group notification, Yammer is making it easier to connect with groups within an organization.

Yammer’s mobile experience is also being improved, with a Group Updates feed, new photo-sharing capabilities including the ability to mark up images on your mobile device, external file attachments, searching for coworkers by email address, inline @- mentioning, and the almost obligatory Apple Watch integration, announced last week.
