Microsoft has officially announced the next major version of Windows, which is set to be released in 2015 and be called Windows 10… Yeah, you read that right. At an event in San Fransicsco, Microsoft spoke about its goals with Windows 10, and how this version of the operating system focuses heavily on the desktop, something Enterprise (and desktop) users will be happy about.

Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Operating Systems said, during the event, “Windows is at a Threshold and now it’s time for a new Windows.”

Windows 10 will include the return of the beloved Start Menu, now with live-tiles included as well as windowed Modern UI apps, multiple desktops, a notification center, an improved CMD and much more. Microsoft will also be releasing a Technical Preview for the public on October 1st.

Are you excited for Windows 10? The operating system is expected to launch in late 2015, and with the Technical Preview, it is up to us to help shape how that final version of Windows becomes. Stay tuned at WinBeta for more information regarding the newly announced Windows 10.
