We’re all waiting to hear the news and see the features of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 10 operating system at the Build conference in a few weeks. While our eyes are on Build 2015 and the future of Windows on PCs and mobile devices, Microsoft has their eyes set much further ahead. With products like Azure, Office 365, OneDrive and some retooling of Windows 10 for IoT, Microsoft is looking towards cloud computing as the next frontier for the software giant.

A mistakenly leaked job posting found by Microsoft journalist and insider Mary Jo Foley reaffirms the belief that Microsoft is looking to lean less on the Windows staple and gamble on the cloud. Microsoft is looking to cultivate a team of developers with the purpose of generating a new set of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products.

These new cloud-centric offerings are called “Power Apps” in the job listing. The new “Power Apps” are targeted at, you guessed it, business and enterprise customers. Just speculating, but these new “Power Apps” are going to be additions to tie even more value into Azure and making Azure the interconnected micro service platform for the future Microsoft.

Also from the listing we can see specific callouts to make accessing these SaaS applications as easy as possible from mobile devices. The job listing is calling out for “folks with strong mobile experience with Cordova/PhoneGap and Javascript.” This may be a particular call back to the Microsoft Azure App Services that were revealed last month. The new service is concentrating on offering manageable websites, mobile sites, “logic” and API apps that help automate business processes using cloud connectivity.

While the listing is no longer up, we can glean from it that Microsoft is looking for developers to help expand the future of Microsoft’s offerings with service tacked onto their ever growing cloud business.
