Surface Pro China Edition

Microsoft has launched the Surface Pro in China and it features something a little bit different compared to its United States counterpart. Microsoft has created a Surface Pro China Edition for the Chinese which offers Windows 8 Standard (not Pro) and Office Home & Student 2013.

The Surface Pro China Edition has an x86 processor, only supports the simplified Chinese language, as well as Office Home & Student 2013 (which the United States counterpart does not come with). On top of that, the Surface runs Windows 8 Standard and not the Professional edition.

The Surface Pro China Edition will be available in two models, the 64GB model and 128GB model. The 64GB model will run for 6588 yuan (US$1050) while the 128GB will run for 7388 yuan (US$1178). The Surface Pro, in its normal form, will run for 7388 yuan.

Microsoft has already launched the Surface RT in China back in October, which drew a huge line outside a Beijing electronics store. Today’s launch of the Surface Pro actually marks the first time Microsoft has released the Surface Pro outside North America!
