Looks like the long anticipated wait for Internet Explorer 9 is nearly over. Microsoft has confirmed rumors that it is releasing the next version of its Internet Explorer browser on March 14.

As TechSpot reports, Microsoft will be holding a launch party in Austin, Texas during the South by Southwest Interactive Festival (SXSWi). Microsoft will also hold a press briefing about Internet Explorer 9. During this press conference, “a few surprises” will take place courtesy of IE senior director Ryan Gavin.

Internet Explorer 9 comes nearly one year after the first platform preview, which didn’t have a sporty interface or basic navigation tools. So what are the new features to look forward to? Internet Explorer 9 will have a refreshed look, as well as better integration with the Windows 7 Jump List. Other notable features include better HTML5 support, performance improvements particularly in JavaScript execution, graphics hardware acceleration and a tracking protection feature.

On Monday, 9am Pacific time, you will be able to download Internet Explorer 9. It will only be available for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users.
