Microsoft is combining Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop orgs – onmsft.com

Microsoft is combining its Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 services under 21-year Microsoft veteran Scott Manchester.  Manchester has been the Windows 365 director of program management for nearly three years.  Manchester started the move towards Azure Virtual Desktop nearly a decade ago as manager of a small group working on Microsoft Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

The move is expected to accelerate sales in both  Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.  With Azure Virtual Desktop sales trending upward Microsoft sees this as the time to push past its virtual desktop competitors Citrix and Vmware.  Azure Virtual Desktop Director Kam VedBrat said in a LinkedIn post on Saturday that he is no longer heading up the Azure Virtual Desktop Team.

“This week I celebrated my last day working on Azure Virtual Desktop,” said VedBrat in the LinkedIn post. “Over the last three years I’ve been humbled by the overwhelming customer response to the service, and seeing organizations around the world use AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) for so many scenarios across so many industries.”

Microsoft has not made an official comment as of yet.
