Microsoft WPC 2013

During the Worldwide Partner Conference today, Microsoft’s chief operating officer Kevin Turner showcased a slide during his presentation featuring a bit of information regarding the software giant’s upcoming product roadmap as it pertains to businesses. One key aspect of the slide was the “Update to Surface RT” and “Update to Surface PRO” bits.

We already know Microsoft is planning on launching a new version of the Surface devices, but this slide simply confirms it and also offers us a tease. Turner also hinted at new accessories for the Surface RT and Surface Pro, along with new accessory colors.

According to a recent report, Microsoft is planning on refreshing its Surface RT lineup by offering a model that is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPU. Currently, the Surface RT runs on Nvidia’s Tegra 3 chipset.

And lets not forget about Intel’s new Haswell processor, which promises better battery life and performance for tablet devices. Could the updated Surface lineup feature this new processor from Intel? We will have to wait and see.

Nonetheless, Turner simply teased us today during WPC 2013 by dropping hints of a new Surface device along with accessories. At this time, there is no word on when we will see the new lineup of Surface devices.
