In a new Building Windows 8 blog post, Microsoft goes over its Windows RT operating system and how this operating system will “push the envelope with powerful computing and innovative design.” Microsoft also shows off an early design for a Windows RT PC.

“Our engineering collaboration on these Windows RT PCs has been strong, collaborating with the PC manufacturers, Silicon partners, and Operators to focus on hardware, software and services integration. Each respective partner was committed to sharing early iterations of their products, whether it was a SoC bring-up board, early builds of Windows RT, firmware and drivers, or hundreds of pre-release PC hardware samples,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post. As you can see from the screenshot above, Windows RT PC has evolved from an early engineering prototype to its current form. Windows RT PCs are designed to be thin and light in design and have a long battery life. Since Windows RT shares significant code with Windows 8, it will be sold and supported by Microsoft as a part of the largest ecosystem in the world. Head over to the source link for a more in-depth look at the Windows RT platform.
