Microsoft, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis inspires hip-hop teens with Surface Pro 4

Aspiring teenagers in Seattle, who are a part of a program called Hip Hop Residency, experienced the giving nature of Microsoft first-hand when the tech giant recently gifted each of them their own new Surface Pro 4 to help them achieve their dreams of being a hip-hop artist.

Working with Grammy-award winning artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, these teens are given an inside look at the process to being a successful hip-hop artist through the Hip-Hop Residency program which works to help teens in their creative process, songwriting, performance, production and use of various software and equipment. The program is fairly new and just launched in July 2015 and offers a fully-funded two-week workshop into the ins and outs of hip-hop and creative arts songwriting.

Upon hearing about this new program, Microsoft felt that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ goals matched up well with their recent Windows 10 campaign, #UpgradeYourWorld. Through #UpgradeYourWorld, Microsoft recently achieved 100% renewable energy from their data centers in Chicago and provided prominent non-profit organizations around the world with funding to help their causes ranging from children literacy, environmental changes and empowering young women.
