As we’re just a couple of weeks away from the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S consoles, the PC version of the game is getting the free World Update V: Nordics today. As its name suggests, this update focuses on Europe’s Nordic countries such as Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, which now appear in much greater detail in the game.

“Simmers can take to the northern European sky and explore vast fjords, riveting urban vistas, domineering peaks, and centuries-old iconic castles from within the cockpit. World Update V: Nordics includes improvements in detail of broad swaths of landscapes, enhancements to regional architecture, improved data for 100 airports and 78 carefully selected points of interest,” explained Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

This update also introduces new bush trips, landing challenges, and hand-crafted airports across these five Nordic countries. You can download the free update from the in-game marketplace, but make sure to get your game up to date first before installing it.

If you haven’t tried it yet, Microsoft Flight Simulator is free to play with Xbox Game Pass for PC. It’s a pretty demanding game even on high-end gaming PCs, and it looks like the upcoming Xbox version will be no different: The game will target 30FPS on both the Series X and Series S, though developer Asobo Studios said that TVs and monitors that support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) will be able to go above 30FPS.
