Microsoft announced today that the company would be releasing eight security updates next week to patch 23 vulnerabilities in its Windows operating system, Internet Explorer browser, and several other products.
Of the eight updates, only two of them are rated “critical”, which we all know to be a most-serious threat according to Microsoft’s ranking system. The rest of the updates are rated “important”, which is the runner-up to the most-serious rank. The majority of these updates are slated to prevent attackers from executing malicious code in an attempt to take over the computer.
The updates will also address issues in .NET and Silverlight frameworks, as well as Forefront Unified Access Gateway, and Host Integration Server. These updates also affect Internet Explorer 6 through 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and 2008 as well as Windows Vista.
These updates are expected to be released by Microsoft on the 11th of October at around 1PM Eastern Time, 10AM Pacific.
