Well, now you’ve been told. Today — 7 November — is the day that you should get it done, and to get it done more efficiently. At least that the thinking behind Microsoft’s Get It Done Day. It’s part of a campaign to show how useful technology can be in increasing productivity and efficiency, allowing for more flexibility and freeing up time.
Get It Done Day is partly inspired by the results of a survey that shows 55 percent of office worker said they need to be able to get work done no matter where they are, and 37 percent do their best thinking outside the office. Corporate vice president, Microsoft Office, John Case said:
“The survey brings to light compelling points about what people expect and what they would be willing to give up to accomplish more in a day. That’s where Microsoft Office 365 can help. Taking on the ‘enemies of done,’ from lack of Wi-Fi to that important document you need to send now that’s on your computer at home, Office 365 is productivity reimagined and way beyond anything else in its class. It is much more than just the Office used by a billion people around the world. This is the new Office, for the new world of work and play.”
What do you do to get it done? Do you work on the train on the way to work? Do you work weekends or when you’re on vacation? This is what Microsoft is interested to learn.
There’s something of a social media campaign underway for this. Facebook users are invited to share photos of themselves “getting it done”, while the #GetItDone hashtag is being used to spread the word on Twitter. On Facebook, the best photos are in line to win prizes. US residents can enter to win one of 50 year-long subscriptions to Office 365 Home Premium while the grand prize is a trip of a lifetime taking in Austin, Texas and NYC.
