Today, the Windows Phone 7 team confirmed that there was a delay in the first major update to Windows Phone 7. It was rumored earlier in the week that Microsoft had decided to delay the first major update to the operating system since its launch.
As ZDNet reports, Microsoft confirmed the delay in a post to the Windows Phone Blog. Eric Hautala, General Manager at Customer Experience Engineering posted that the first major update would hit the public in the first half of this month. Apparently, multiple problems arose with the first update in February that caused Samsung handsets to be bricked. This resulted in Microsoft delaying the patch from being released.

But I believe it’s important that we learn all we can from the February update. So I’ve decided to take some extra time to ensure the update process meets our standards, your standards, and the standards of our partners. As a result, our plan is to start delivering the copy-and-paste update in the latter half of March. This short pause should in no way impact the timing of future updates, including the one announced recently at Mobile World Congress featuring multitasking, a Twitter feature, and a new HTML 5-friendly version of Internet Explorer Mobile.
NoDo is expected to deliver copy-and-paste, improved performance, better Marketplace search, and several other new features.
