If you’ve been having issues with your print server clients after installing Windows 11 on your PC, you’re not alone. Microsoft has acknowledged various bugs that prevent Windows 11 machines from installing printers in enterprise networks. (via Bleeping Computer).

The company says the first printing issue has been discovered in Windows PCs accessing printers via HTTP connections. “When a client connects to the server to install the printer, a directory mismatch occurs, which causes the installer files to generate incorrectly. As a result, the drivers may not download,” Microsoft wrote on the Windows Health dashboard.

Aside from that, Microsoft has confirmed that the second issue specifically impacts organizations that attempt to install printers through the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). These bugs affect numerous client and server versions of Windows, and you can find the full list of known systems on this page.

Last but not least, there is also a third known issue that may cause print servers to print with default settings only. “This issue results from an improper building of the data file which contains the printer properties. Clients which receive this data file will not be able to use the file content and will instead proceed with default printing settings. Servers which use default print settings and have no custom settings to provide to clients are unaffected,” the company explained.

Fortunately, the Redmond giant is actively investigating the aforementioned bugs and plans to release a patch for Windows 11 users in an upcoming update. As a workaround, Microsoft has recommended that IT admins should manually copy packaged drivers or tweak the printer settings on affected Windows 11 machines. However, people running the older versions of Windows can install the October Patch Tuesday cumulative updates to resolve these printing problems.

In case you missed it, Brother has recently confirmed that its various printer models are experiencing problems with Windows 11 when connected via a USB cable. The firm is currently investigating the issue, and it has advised users to avoid USB connections.
