Microsoft China inadvertently teases Windows 9 on Weibo

Windows 9

Companies often tease their upcoming products, but rarely do they tease unintentionally. Recently, Microsoft in China inadvertently posted a teaser of Windows 9, asking them about their predictions about the return of the legendary Start Menu.

Microsoft China posted on Weibo, “”Microsoft’s latest OS Windows 9 is coming soon, do you think the start menu at the left bottom will make a come back?” The teaser was accompanied by the Windows 9 logo as well (as shown above). They realized their mistake, and the post was taken off within a few minutes. However, the information was spotted by the folks at CnBeta, so we do know now that Windows 9 is “coming soon.”

Several revelations have come to light about the Windows 9. Microsoft is rumored to make noteworthy changes in the operating system, such as an improved Metro UI which we already shared with our readers, removal of charms bar, the return of the start menu in one way or another, as well as an improved update functionality.

Microsoft is expected to hold a press conference on September 30th to reveal more details about the upcoming Windows 9 (Threshold). The preview version of the operating system will be distributed to developers and enterprise partners for testing purposes, before its expected full scale launch in 2015.

The wallpaper isn’t an official one, but considering the message comes from an official Microsoft channel, it does raise questions regarding whether or not Windows 9 is “coming soon”.
