Today, ten years ago, Microsoft launched it’s first gaming console, the Xbox. The Xbox became one of the best gaming consoles in history, with hits such as Halo Combat Evolved, the console just kept on getting better and better.

Microsoft is celebrating ten years of Xbox today, with the launch of the original in 2001, and the Xbox 360 in 2005, Microsoft has come along way in the gaming industry. The company sells an estimated 360K of Xbox 360 a month, which makes it the number one console.

To celebrate this day, Microsoft is offering a free Xbox Avatar, a media sound which is directly available from here, and tonnes of offers available on the Xbox marketplace.

Microsoft is always at work on the Xbox console, with rumours of a new console coming in 2013-2014, it is only a matter of time before some real details leak on what to expect from the company over the next few years.
