Just weeks after Microsoft launched Azure in Brazil as a public preview, the company has now made Azure, the company’s cloud computing platform and infrastructure, generally available in the South region. Microsoft has seen “incredible demand” for a global enterprise public cloud offering in the country.
“With over 1,000 customers signing up for Azure every day, this expansion demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to increasing growth and helping customers access the power of the cloud, in Brazil and around the world. As with the recent expansions in Japan and China, this new region will provide customers throughout Brazil with increased network redundancy and lower latency,” Microsoft stated.
According to Microsoft, more than 1,000 new customers are joining Azure every day. Revenue has also grown to more than 150 percent in the last quarter. Just recently, Microsoft Azure hit general availability in China and Japan. Microsoft is touting “rapid global expansion and incredible growth” for Microsoft Azure, formerly known as Windows Azure.
“With compute capacity doubling every six months and more than 8,000 customers signing up weekly, we are helping customers get the power of the cloud delivered by world-class cloud technologies, services and infrastructure. Today, we are excited to help our customers in Brazil harness that power so they can transform their businesses,” the company adds.
