Microsoft and Accenture have just announced a new partnership aptly called Accenture Microsoft Business group, which, from the announcement, appears to be a sort of service solution for more than 45,000 dedicated professionals.

Accenture and Microsoft have a longstanding collaborative relationship that has already resulted in a grouped effort called Avanade, but yesterday’s, February 4, 2019, announcement seems to be going after scale in the enterprise arena.

Regarding yesterday’s news, Accenture’s chief technology & innovation officer and chairman of the board for Avanade Paul Daugherty described the combined efforts as such,

“The Accenture Microsoft Business Group is a major step forward in our decades-long relationship with Microsoft. It brings Accenture’s broad industry experience and transformation skills together with Microsoft’s powerful digital technologies and Avanade’s specialization in the Microsoft ecosystem. The demand for digital transformation, powered by the cloud, has never been greater. We are bringing the leading capabilities of our companies together to meet this demand and deliver innovation to our clients.”

As for the details of the deal, it appears that Accenture’s role will be to be more of the client facing portion to this global services and solutions offering while Microsoft will help provide the actual infrastructure and technologies.

The collaboration will focus on, “helping clients migrate to Microsoft Azure and effectively harness the power of data, artificial intelligence, optimize Microsoft business processes with Microsoft Dynamics and foster modern work and collaboration with Microsoft 365.”

Microsoft and Accenture have already found similar success in their Avanade partnership delivering some 35,000 Microsoft-related projects to more than 4,000 professional clients over the globe. With the spin-up of Accenture Microsoft Business Group, the two companies look to expand on that success and client portfolio many times over.
