Microsoft acquires Office plug-in tool LiveLoop

Microsoft has acquired a San Francisco based productivity plug-in maker called LiveLoop. The company converts PowerPoint presentations into web URLs which can be viewed from any computer or smartphone without installing any software on their devices.

The notice is present on the company’s website as well, announcing that LiveLoop will permanently shut down on April 24th. Furthermore, existing users will be able to download their data, but the plug-in maker requests users to do that before April 24th as the data will permanently deleted after the shut down date.

The notice on the company’s website states,

LiveLoop will be shutting down permanently on April 24th, 2015. New user registration and presentation upload have been disabled.

Existing LiveLoop users: if you have any data you would like to retrieve from LiveLoop, please do so before April 24th. On April 24th, all presentations and user data will be permanently deleted.

Microsoft has also confirmed the acquisition in a comment issued to ZDNet, saying,

Microsoft is excited to welcome the talented team from LiveLoop to help build great collaboration across Office applications, as part of our strategy and vision to reinvent productivity.

Microsoft has acquired a number of productivity applications in the past few months, including the popular email client Acompli and an Android calendar app Sunrise.
