Maps, canopy, and best buy apps for windows 8. 1 receive new updates and improvements

Several apps have received an update today in the Windows Store, among them are the official Maps app for Windows 8.1, along with the third-party Vine app ‘Canopy’ and the official Best Buy app. Head over to the Windows Store to snag these updates!

Microsoft’s own Maps app for Windows 8.1 has received an update, however we are not sure exactly what new features this update encompasses as Microsoft tends to be a bit slow when it comes to offering a change log. The app description page lists the following changes, which could have been a part of the previous update:

  • Facebook sign-in to see what business your friends like, what’s popular, and what’s recommended for you
  • Personalized Local Scout recommendations for restaurants, events, attractions, hotels, and more
  • Integrated with Bing Smart Search and the Bing Travel and Bing Weather apps
  • Resizable app for improved multi-tasking support in Windows
  • Improved app look and feel

“Let the Bing Maps app bring the world to your fingertips. With stunning aerial and satellite imagery, comprehensive road coverage, and extensive local listings the Maps app makes it easier than ever to find and get directions to locations, businesses and events across the globe. With Windows 8.1, Bing also brings your social network and personalized recommendations to the Maps app. Sign in with your Facebook credentials to get picks for you, discover what businesses your friends like, and see what’s popular in your area,” the Maps app description reads.

The third-party Vine app ‘Canopy’ also received an update, bringing along a beautiful new interface, improved search feature, and numerous bug fixes. The official Best Buy app also received an update, simply addressing bugs and adding performance improvements.

Hit the download links below to force the update. Let us know if you notice any new improvements we did not mention above in any of the apps.
