Lumia 950 and 950 XL can’t install Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview just yet

Microsoft’s latest flagship smartphones, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, are up for sale and pre-order in the United States as of this week, with shipments set to reach users early this weekend continuing into next week. But as devices begin to reach end-users, people have been noticing some quirks with Microsoft’s ‘technically’ still-in-beta Windows 10 Mobile operating system.

Lumia fans that have been running Windows Mobile Insider Preview builds since the program started earlier this year are familiar with the way that new builds roll out as well as their potential. With each new build, some things get fixed, with a few new things becoming broken or problematic. According to a user on Twitter as well as a response from Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, there are issues with the new hardware-software combination and shared some news about the upcoming nature of Insider builds with the Lumia 950 and 950 XL.

User @zeke_again tweeted to @GabeAul “is the 950 eligible for the new builds? I am hoping it addresses some issues”. He doesn’t elaborate on the issues he is facing, but the response Aul gave is very useful informatively, but not so useful for remedying Lumia 950 and 950 XL owners’ problems. Aul responded by tweeting back, “Not yet, we need to get some support in place for 950 & 950 XL to enable them for Insider Previews”. The problems with Windows 10 Mobile RTM build 10586.11 will be sitting tight for the time being until Microsoft allows the Lumia 950 and 950XL to receive Insider builds.
