Lumia 640 in box

I recently received my Lumia 640 and took the chance to make a brief unboxing and hands on video. We’ll have a full review in the next few weeks after having enough time to adequately judge the phone, but for now, here are a few quick takeaways.

The Lumia 640 has a lot of solid features including double tap to wake and glance screen. These features are appearing on most new Lumia phones but it’s still reassuring to see them on a low to mid-range device. It is noticeably light too. The Lumia 640 only weighs in at 145 grams and for a phone with a 5 inch screen that’s a nice weight range to be in.

While I expect the Lumia 640 to be a solid phone based on its specs and the few hours I’ve spent with it, it does have some things that I’ll miss. I expect the absence of a dedicated camera button and the lower quality cameras to be irritating at times. While the main camera is 8 megapixels the front facing camera is a surprisingly low 0.9 MP.

As mentioned before, we’ll have a full review up after we have a realistic time to make a judgment on the phone but for now it looks like a good low to mid-range device.
