LinkedIn adds new Open Candidates feature to privately signal you’re open to new job opportunities

LinkedIn has introduced today a new feature that will help users of the professional network find better job opportunities without telling everyone, including their boss. Called Open Candidates, the new feature can be enabled in the settings and will privately indicate to recruiters that use LinkedIn that you’re open to new professional challenges. “We will hide the Open Candidates signal from recruiters at your company or affiliated company recruiters,” shared the company in the blog post announcing the news.

To get started, users will have to go to the Preferences tab on the LinkedIn Jobs home page. Once the feature is turned on, users will be able to specify the types of companies and jobs they are most interested in and provide additional details including location, experience level, company size, industry and more. You can see how it works in the video below.

Open Candidates is available to LinkedIn users in the U.S, U.K., Canada and Australia starting today, but the feature is only available on the desktop and mobile Web for now. “We will be rolling out globally soon,” explained the blog post. Let us know in the comments if you think this new feature could make the professional network more useful to its 450 million members.
