Japanese phone manufacturer freetel shows off their first windows 10 phones, katana 01 and katana 02

Freetel, a Japanese phone manufacturer, has revealed its first two phones powered by the new Windows 10 Mobile operating system.

The two devices are the Katana 01 and the Katana 02 which are both set to be more budget friendly, and not flagship tier phones.

The Katana 01 will feature a 4.5 inch display with a 854 x 480 resolution, a 1,700mAh battery, LTE connectivity, quad core processor, and 5 different case color options. It will be priced at ¥19,800 Japanese Yen, or about $160 US Dollars.

The Katana 02 will be a slightly higher performance device, with a larger 5 inch screen that provides a 1280 x 720 resolution, a 2,600mAh battery, LTE connectivity, and a quad core processor. The higher performance device will consequently grab a higher price tag of ¥29,800 Japanese Yen, or about $240 US Dollars.

While Windows Phone 8.1 has shown an extremely low market share in Japan of less than 1%, the advance announcement of a portfolio of Windows 10 phones might give some new possibilities for Japanese consumers to consider.
